History of the Emmaus School of Correspondence in Ethiopia

In September 2006 we celebrated the fifth anniversarry of ECS in Ethiopia. But to be honest: the courses had been used much longer time already.

At that time (September 2006) and during about 5 previous years, the courses had been systematically brought into the country and distributed according to the concept of the ZAM (Central Africa Mission).

Before this date courses had been sent to and from to Germany and other countries  a central system. But from about this time on a decentralized system was introduced.

Today there is a National Coordinator, there are Zone Coordinators and Correctors working together. The distance between a student and his corrector has been minimized. And instead of sending courses to a remote postbox you can visit your corrector at home or in Church.

Having started with just a few people the work grew and grew. And today March 2011 we have more than 141 Biblecenters and more than 26.834 students all over the country. Praise God for that.

26 courses have been translated into Amharic and at this moment all these titles have been printed. We started translating the courses into Orominga.

Today March 2011 Emmaus Ethiopia has 2.379 certificate and 1188 diploma graduates.

Bible seminars are being offered to the students all over the country.

We hope and pray that God will provide so the work can expand even further.
