ECS in the Prisons

We are happy to have thousands of students in the prisons in Ethiopia. Prison Fellowship Ethiopia has been permitted to work in about 80 out of 120 prisons in the country.

We regularly have seminars with the fellow workers of PFE, where we share the Word of God. We had themes like:
- The normal Christian Worker
- The History of salvation
- The Covenants
- The Letter to the Romans
- The Feasts of the Lord

They use our Bible courses in the prisons. When we are in Ethiopia we have the possibility to visit some prisons to preach the Gospel. In many prisons there are churches and we are allowed to teach the Word of God there.

It is very impressing to hear prisoners witnessing their faith in Jesus Christ.

I once heard one prisoner say: “I am in prison and that is good so. I was a terrible man. I have hurt a lot of people including my familiy. But since I read the Bible and completed your Bible courses, my life has changed completely. Now I want to serve the Lord Jesus and bear witness to HIM.“. After he sat down an other prisoner stood up and said: “The same goes for me. I am happy now to know the Lord Jesus and I want to serve HIM.”

The directors of the prisons are very pleased and they support the work of PFE completely. That is easy to understand: in one prison that we visited there were about 1200 prisoners and a church with about 660 members. If half of the prisoners have become Christians, your task as prison director is going to be easier!
